Satyricon @ The Rickshaw

Im big into most music, especially metal, so I am always excited to cover metal shows.. Satyricon was a little disappointing. They have some good tunes, for sure, but their stage presence left a bit to be desired. I still walked away with a handful of photos I’d like to share though!

Lead singer Satyr, and his funky mic stand ( 120mm @ 1/40 handheld )

Another, 1/25th! All handheld..

Somewhere around the third song I could jump back up to 1/100th

The venue didn’t have a gate, so I was forced to shoot over the crowd, which sometimes I like, since it gives a unique perspective after being in the pit so many times.

Synchronized headbanging in low light.. 1/50th

Looks like I got more light here.. still 1/50th

Thankfully, he stayed really still a lot.

hand holding slow shutter speeds is the best. my record for a sharp photo is at 1/4s on an slr. i’m sure with my zeiss i could go a bit slower. i like the hair cuts. :P
