B-Boy battle and Doodlebug @ Pop Opera

A while back I was at trendy Vancouver night-club ‘Pop Opera’ to cover Doodlebug, and Red1 with Team Killawatt for Abort Magazine. The night started out a little slow, with everything being pushed back 30-60 minutes, as is most everything in Vancouver.. but once it got started, it went off pretty well, though, the club isn’t really made for live music.. DjAM killed it last spring though! (RIP)

Some B-girls getting the crowd worked up teaching them some hip-hop dance moves, and killing some time before the main acts hit the stage.

These two were doing new-school moves, what most people today know as break-dancing,

Which is really just a lot of showing off killer moves..

Though, the old-school breakers had some cool stuff as well..

The moves aren’t necessarily as big as the new style, but entertaining to watch, nevertheless.

Loving the point!

Back to some new stuff..

Didn’t have time to recompose in landscape format when I saw what he was doing..

After the dancers, there was a hiphop duo that started things off, but I couldnt find their names anywhere, so I wont post any shots, then Canadian HipHop legends Red1, and DJ Kemo of the Rascalz hit the stage with Killawatt records ‘Team Killawatt’ featuring Joose, Lamar Ashe, and Heatwave. Despite some mic issues, their show went off quite well.

Doodlebug ended up going on at around 12:30am, so I only stayed for a few songs..

Thats it for now, I may post some of Team Killawatt later on, sending those to the label who has first dibs! ; )

Cheers from Vancouver
