The Rickshaw Theater in Vancouver played host to four of Vancouver’s best bands who rang in the new year in style. Mexican Drug Patrol and The Wrecktals started things off, Ninjaspy was on stage to ring in the New Year, and The Dreadnoughts finished off the night to a packed house.

I don’t know if he was playing up to the camera or not, but I love the look I got from Mexican Drug Patrol’s drummer

This was with the 50/1.8.. would have liked to have a 14-24 or something wide here, but still dig the silhouette against the pinks and purple stage lights

There is usually enough light for shooting wide at 2.8, glad when it works out. (Wrecktals)
Then the band I have shot at least half a dozen times now.. Ninjaspy!

Probably my favorite shot I have taken of Joel Live, simple, nice lighting, no edits.

A few of Tim on the bass.. and in the air..

You get a good sense of how many people were there for the show. The Venue holds almost as many people as the Commodore Ballroom, which is about 900

Dreadnoughts finished the night in their own fashion, drunkenly.

Not usually a fan of blue, but like how it worked here.

Thanks go to another photographer, Anikah, for the flash on the other side.. shot at 1/20 to catch it..

And a signature move of theirs to finish off the post. I am trying something new, so there is a gallery with more photos in it below!
